Getting into Affiliate Marketing: the Basics

Getting into Affiliate Marketing: the Basics

Affiliate marketing is one of the hottest home business opportunities around.  With some basic training, you can easily set up an affiliate business and get started in a couple of weeks.

Affiliate programs are the best way for you to sell someone else’s products or service and get paid for it.  Selling through an affiliate program is a great way to sell on the Internet without getting knee-deep in product.

You market the product or service online (that includes websites, emails, forums, blogs as well as paid advertising). The company then is responsible for the product; they process the payments, ship the merchandise, and handle any complaints.  You provide the marketing and get the commission. Brilliant!

Say you own a website giving people information about Jazz Music. You could place links to products related to Jazz Music, CD’s, download sites, etc. on your website. When your visitors click on your links they will go to the website you are promoting. If they buy, you will be paid a commission. Not bad for providing information huh?

You can find affiliate programs just about everywhere these days.  A good way to find programs you’d like to join is by doing a search on your chosen topic.  See what your competition is doing for a place to start. The affiliate networks such as ClickBank and Commission Junction are great places to look as well.

Look everywhere you shop online. Check the web sites for the words affiliate or partners. You’ll soon see there are almost no merchants online today who don’t have some sort of affiliate program.  If you’re going to have a website or blog, you should definitely have affiliate links.

When you register for your chosen affiliate program you will receive your own personal ID number. When you place your link to the website you’re promoting on your website, you will use a link address which includes your unique ID. Anyone who makes a purchase via your personal link racks up commissions for you. These commissions are paid based on the pay schedule of that particular program.

There are a number of products which show you the ins and outs of starting your affiliate business. Check the resource box of this article to get the two best and most economical products on the market today. Each of these products is guaranteed by the product owner and each has its strong points. The most important one being, you get the information you need without spending a fortune.

Easy as pie?  Right? The truth is, you will probably need one of the resource products to get things set up; but I wouldn’t spend a lot of money on them. Check out the recommended products to get you started. Above all, get started. You won’t earn until you learn. Good luck!

Affiliate Marketing Basics For Affiliate Marketer Wannabe

For those who aspires to start an internet business, affiliate marketing is probably the best way to go. Why?You do not need to create your product, the product is already created by the vendor. All you have to do is market the product on behalf of the vendor to get income from commissions. In other words, you sell other people products and services and get paid for it. You can get started with the business within minutes. But my advise is try learn more about the business to maximise the potential. So, give it a week or so to learn about the traits of the business.

What you will be doing as an affiliate marketer is market the product or service online (in can be in the form of websites, emails, forums, blogs as well as paid advertising). You do not have to keep a stock  for the product (if it is a physical product) or have it saved in your own server (as in the case for digital products). Everything will be done by the vendor; they process the payments, ship the merchandise (for physical product) or provide the download link (for digital products), and handle complaints (if any).  Handling complaints can certainly time consuming if you do not know the product inside out. In essence, all you have to do is do the marketing bit and as reward you will get commission on each sale you  bring in.

To get a clearer view, let me make an example. Imagine that  you own a website giving people information about Alternative Music. What you should do is place links to products related to Alternative Music, CD’s, download sites, etc. on your website.  If you what you have in your website is compelling enough for your visitors to stay on reading, they will probably stumble upon you links.  When they click on the links they will go to the website you are promoting. If they buy the product or service offered by the website you promote, you will get commission.

They are numerous affiliate programs that you can find nowadays. Most probably because it is an effective way to reach out  the growing internet community. One good way to do a research on the topic that you are interested in. This way, you would be  able to see what your competition is doing. Take note of the keywords they are using by viewing the source of their page, find out which websites they are linking to and what websites actually linking into it.  As an alternative, the affiliate networks such as ClickBank , Pepperjam, Linkshare and Commission Junction are worth considering.

When you browse the internet, you should see that most web sites out there have their own affiliate programs or some sort. Look everywhere you are doing online shopping. Check the web sites for the words affiliate or partners. You will see that more and more merchant using affiliate marketing to reach out the ever growing online market.  So, if you are going to have your own website or blog, find some affiliate programs and put the links in your website or blog.

So, how does it work? When you register for an affiliate program you will get an ID number. The vendor will provide you with a link  that you will be promoting. The link will include your unique ID. Check and make sure that the ID given is your own ID.  So, anyone who makes a purchase via your personal link will bring you commission up to 75 percent of the sales value (depending on the vendor).

Now that I have created interest to be involved in affiliate marketing, all you need to do now is find the right product to market. I am quite sure that you will be able to find a number of products that will show you the ins and outs of starting your affiliate business. You can start with two of the best (in my opinion) and most economical products on the market today in the resource box. The products are guaranteed by the  respective authors and each has its strong points. The most important one being, you will be provided with the relevant marketing tools get started without spending a fortune. It also adds to value to yourself (if you actually buys it) as there a lot information that is relevant to this business.

Think about it. It is easy to be in the affiliate marketing business, right? All you have to do is spread the word to others. You will also be provided with the resources needed to start your marketing campaign; but seriously, do not spend to much money on them. Just make sure that you at least understand what the product is all about. If you have the money, then go ahead buy it, you will get more information to really be in this business. However, regardless of everything, get started. You would not earn until you learn. Good luck!

Handmade Jewelry-Making Basics: If Money is Tight, Make Your Own Sterling Earrings

Americans are cutting back on expenses as never before in recent years.  Personal and family budgets often cut spending first on gifts and costume jewelry purchases. Handmade sterling silver earrings may fill the need for costume jewelry or for inexpensive gifts.

A new jewelry maker can create handmade sterling silver earrings for less than the cost of a fast-casual lunch or dinner out.  One does not need complicated tools and an endless supply of components to make elegant, attractive earrings.

This article presents only sterling silver earwires, posts and components for two reasons:

Sterling Silver is hypoallergenic for most people Sterling Silver, a precious metal, costs much less than white gold or platinum

What are Jewelry Findings

In jewelry terms, “jewelry findings”, or just “findings”, are jewelry components less than a finished piece.

Common Earring Findings

One type of earring finding is an earwire (also known as a “french wire” or a “hook”).  An “earring post” has a “post” (“stick”) that fits through the piercing, with an “ear back” (also known as a “ear nuts”, “butterfly clutches” or “stoppers”) that fits over the stick behind the ear.  A full ball, half ball, shield, or other design will be soldered onto the front of the post.

Sterling Silver Earrings: No Tools Required

The first simple earring design needs no tools to assemble — hands are good enough.  Good sterling silver shield post earring findings show a thin, rounded profile in the vertical.  a “U”-shaped hook soldered to the bottom edge of these findings is open to the back.  One only needs to hang a Sterling/Cubic Zirconia Bezel-set drop with a soldered ring at the top from the “U”-shaped hook, then pinch the top of the hook closed with the fingers.

With representative prices of .35 per pair for Sterling Silver Shield Post earring findings and .97 or less for a pair of bezel-set Sterling/Colorless Cubic Zirconia drops, one may make a pair of earrings with the fire and sparkle of simulated diamond for less than (not including shipping or sales tax), with no tools.  For those who prefer earrings entirely of sterling silver, replace the Sterling/Cubic Zirconia drop with a pair of sterling teardrops with soldered top loops for .65 per pair.  You can keep your cost of a pair of sterling silver earring less than .

Tools Recommended for Simple Earrings

Flat nose pliers or chain nose pliers are the tools recommended for most earring styles considered in this article.  These pliers, when used in jewelry making, will be smooth on the inside, to minimize the marks added to jewelry; normal pliers usually have serrated jaws to “bite” into metal.

Sterling Silver Earrings: One Tool Required

Many earring posts and earwires have open rings soldered to the bottom of the earring findings.  These open rings need to be gently opened to the side to hang a drop or dangle.  It MAY be possible to do that with your hands, but we recommend one pair of either flat nose pliers or chain nose pliers because they will offer you better control than using only your hands.

To use either earring posts or earring findings, one must GENTLY move part of the open ring soldered to the bottom of the finding to the side.  Then, it is possible to hang a drop or a wire-wrapped dangle onto the open ring.  Once again, use the pliers to GENTLY move the open piece of the ring back into place — to close the gap of the open ring.

With a representative price of .66 for a pair of short Sterling Silver French earwires and a pair of 4mm Sterling/Cubic Zirconia bezel-set drops, you can make a pair of earrings for under (before shipping or sales tax).

Inexpensive Earrings for Formal Affairs

For formal affairs, such as weddings or holiday parties, a pair of 6mm Princess Cut Sterling/Clear Cubic Zirconia posts with 6mm Sterling/Clear Bezel Set Cubic Zirconia drops are stunning earrings that can be made for under ; one set of pliers is recommended to assemble these as discussed above.

Earrings with Wire Wraps

Dangles made with wire wraps require some instruction and practice for good-looking results, but they increase the number of possible earring designs one may choose to make.  Wire wrapping will usually take three tools: flush cutters, chain nose pliers and round nose pliers.

Wire wrapped dangles may incorporate a greater variety of beads, charms and findings.

Conclusion

Families feeling a “budget crunch” can still indulge in sterling silver costume jewelry for personal wear or for gift giving, offering pleasing handcrafted gifts to loved ones and wearing attractive earrings, too.

The Best Basics Beginner’s Guide

The Best Basics Beginner’s Guide

In the Internet era, new marketing methods and strategies have been developed to encourage web users to participate in web-based marketing programs, and also earn as well. This new marketing strategy or program is called Affiliate Marketing.

Affiliate marketing adopts a referral-based marketing strategy that is also coined as revenue sharing, where merchants pay affiliates commissions for referring businesses to the merchant’s website. In this new marketing realm, merchants do not pay for advertising with their affiliates until a sale occurs, and they only pay a commission to referring affiliates for resulting sales.

1)    Affiliate marketing online is one of the best work at home opportunities around. With a little internet know-how, you can easily set yourself up as an affiliate marketer and be in business in just a matter of days.Affiliate marketing in simply refers to promoting/selling other people’s products on your website.

For example, you own a website that gives web users and consumers information about medical transcription, you could then place links to products or services related to medical transcription, medical transcription training, MT equipment and supplies, etc. When your visitors click on these links, they will go to the website that you are promoting. If they buy or acquire the services of that link, you will then be paid an incentive, such as a commission for sending the customer there.

2)    It is quite easy to find affiliate programs on the internet these days. A good way to find a number of programs you would like to join is by doing an online search for your chosen topic. Try looking at what other websites are promoting and this would give you a good head start. Among these sites are two called Bidvertiser and Commission Junction, and it’s a great place to start searching.

When you have registered for your chosen affiliate program, you will then receive a unique ID. When you place a link to websites you are promoting, you are going to use a URL which includes your unique ID. The clicks made by web clients are automatically tracked and so are your sales, or commissions. You will then be paid according to each individual’s programs payment dates.

To add, there is a certain strategy or technique to affiliate marketing and only a small percentage of affiliates do actually gain the status of “super affiliate”. One thing that will surely bring you much success in affiliate marketing is providing valuable information to your visitors. If you do this to the hilt, you’ll be one step ahead of the competition.

According to analysts however, the key to success in affiliate marketing is the ability to track referred customers. As an affiliate manager, you would want a system that reliably tracks what you want, and with little, or minimal effort on your part, but without affecting the performance of your site or server.

The many benefits of affiliate marketing include the potential for automating much of the advertising process, such as accepting & approving applications, generating unique sales links, tracking & reporting of results, and payment made only for desired results.

Affiliate marketing, at its best, is a win-win scenario. It’s an easy and attractive method to offer your customers precisely what they want and more of it, while you benefit, both in terms of building goodwill and earning profits. For small and medium-sized businesses and fairly low-traffic sites, affiliate programs are probably the best and easiest way to generate profits and exposure online. Many of the Internet’s most popular retailers have affiliate programs that pay webmasters a commission for sales they refer. The programs are available for books, credit cards, loans, and for Internet supersites like Amazon.com.

Affiliate Marketing Basics

Affiliate marketing is the process of tracking leads and sales for the purposes of rewarding individuals and companies for referring others to their web sites that convert into leads and sales with commission payments. Usually, this process involves the use of a specially-encoded tracking hyperlink that identifies you as the referrer of the traffic.

There is one very easy way to get started with affiliate marketing. If you’ve ever used the Google search engine, it’s likely that you will have seen some advertisements called “sponsored links.” On Yahoo’s search engine, you get a column called “sponsor results.” MSN’s search engine calls them “sponsored sites.” In each case, from the heading, you can tell that people pay for those links to be published on the search engine.

These search engines have each set up a nice easy way to relieve you of some money from your credit card, for which they display these adverts for you. You don’t pay each time the ad is shown. You only pay if the reader clicks on your ad, which will send the reader to the web site you have specified. You decide on the text of an ad you would like to place, when the ad should be displayed (for example, when somebody searches for “Christmas”), and how much you would be prepared to pay if the person searching clicks on your ad. The person doing the search is then sent to the web site you specified, and you get charged an amount that may be as little as one penny, but typically may be in the region of 5 to 15 cents or 3 to 10p. Google’s service is called Google AdWords, and I believe it’s the most popular of these services.

Now, if you had a product to sell, you could easily make money this way, as long as enough people buy your product after you’ve purchased your advertising. If you don’t have a product, you can still make money from the commissions, again, as long as the amount you are paying for advertising does not exceed the amount you are making with commissions.

How do you find affiliate programmes? There are many affiliate networks and individual affiliate programmes out there. ClickBank is one of the most popular affiliate networks, also providing credit-card processing services. ClickBank mainly deals in electronic delivery products such as electronic books and software, and, at the time of writing, commissions can run as high as 70% for these products (ClickBank claims commissions can be 75%, but they take a 7.5% + cut, and the remaining money is shared between the vendor and affiliate according to the vendor’s chosen commission percentage).

Another affiliate network is ValueClick’s Commission Junction, one of the largest, which administers affiliate programmes for a lot of household brand names such as eBay. There are many smaller affiliate networks, and there are also affiliate programmes that are independent of any network, where the merchant runs the tracking software.

What most of these affiliate networks and programmes have in common is that you can sign up as an affiliate for free, and the networks or merchants will send you money when your commission reaches a certain level; in some cases this is done electronically, in other cases through the issue of cheques. Some people treat affiliate marketing as a hobby; for others, it’s a lucrative full-time business. Earnings can literally be uncapped, and your success depends on how dedicated you are to the business, and, to a certain extent, luck.

The Basics of Selling Jewelry

The Basics of Selling Jewelry

Selling jewelry is a grueling process if not calm, confident, and collective. My job is to not only please any customer that walks into Swarovski, a luxury brand name store that sells crystal jewelry among other products, but also generate as much money as possible in the process. However, working at Swarovski as a jewelry salesman is tricky, and pleasing a shopper takes a lot of perseverance and skill. Nonetheless, there are tricks and tips to the jewelry selling process. First, I will clarify how to be prepared physically and mentally for the job. After the clarification, I will state the proper way of greeting customers walking into the store. Next, I will inform the right questions to ask a customer, and then explain up-selling. Finally, I will detail on how to elegantly end the sale.

Looking like a bum will not generate good sales. An underestimated key to superior selling is looking like a million dollars. For a gentleman like me, the best way to go about looking great and professional at the same time is to wear a graceful suit and tie. Wearing a good looking suit will attract eyes automatically. People assume I know my material, and whether I actually do or not, people will never know. Well groomed hair, trimmed nails, and a smile are the other ingredients to looking great. Customers will feel more comfortable knowing they are dealing with a professional, which, in the process, will make them feel more secure in making a purchase. Looking graceful is a powerful demeanor in the jewelry business.

If every customer shopping at Swarovski were always friendly, gracious, and sociable, my job would be effortless. Unfortunately, not all customers are friendly. Some can be snobby and disrespectful. Some customers treat salesmen as dirt. And some customers can give a hard time over nothing. All these difficulties are just another challenge as a jewelry salesman. When in doubt, the best thing is to smile and illustrate nothing will wipe the smile off. Perhaps the smile will rub onto the grumpy customer, making him or her lighten up. If not, try to positively make the sale anyways. A key to becoming a successful salesman is to stay confident and positive, no matter what the situation calls for.

Studying about the product is also imperative. Knowing all the information will help with sales in presenting details about the jewelry to customers. Customers asking stumping questions can be embarrassing. Not knowing certain answers or not responding properly can discourage customers in making a purchase. Always review material so the knowledge never escapes.

Greeting the customer in a friendly manner is extremely important. Customers think of workers as complete strangers. On the contrary, as soon as the customer is greeted with a generous “hello, how are you today,” he or she will feel more welcomed and comfortable. The customer’s comfort is vital because conversing and generating sales will be easier and pleasurable.

Learning to know the customer’s style is significant. Their style and fashion dictates what he or she wants to purchase. However, some customers will not say their preferences out of the blue, which is why asking questions is important. Pretend a female customer walks into the store. Greet the customer and let her browse around the store for a bit. After letting her browse, ask “what brings you into the store today?” Asking about her motives helps the salesman understand what the customer is searching for. The most popular response from customers is “I am just looking around.” After the customer replies, ask about whom she is shopping for. “Are you looking for a gift or shopping for yourself?” Some customers will respond “I don’t know, but I’m fine thanks.” If a customer responds in a similar fashion, she usually wants to be left alone, and as a salesman, leaving her alone until she asks for assistance is essential. The last thing wanted is to chase a customer out of the store.

Some customers, nevertheless, need help instantaneously and love assistance. Assuming a female shopper needs help buying jewelry for herself, ask about her likings. “What types of jewelry do you like? Earrings, necklaces, rings…?” If a customer is not sure, showing her around the store will be the next step. But supposing the customer is looking for a fine-looking pair of earrings, show her what the store offers. After presenting many types of earrings, including gold, silver, cheap, expensive, flashy, shiny, simple, and elegant, let the customer decide on what she likes best. If the customer admires silver and simple earrings, put aside all the other pairs and kindly display her admirations in front of her. Walk her to a mirror and offer her to try on the earrings. Some customers love trying on jewelry to see if it is the best choice. Plus, if she is not sure on whether to make the purchase, having her try on the jewelry will help her decision, and the chance of making a sale will increase. While the customer tries on the earrings, talk to her. Perhaps ask questions about her motives. Or explain about the material, the quality, or the durability of the jewelry. Say nothing but positive traits of course. Also, compliment on how the jewelry looks on her. Always try conversing, never let there be awkward silences, and always answer any of the customer’s questions. Remember, the job is about customer satisfaction.

The customer is admiring the earrings and looks convinced she will buy them. As a salesman, the purchase is great, but up-selling is another main key to being a great salesman. While she is trying on the earrings, start to display matching necklaces as well. Explain why the earrings and necklaces fit together nicely. Make sure she tries the necklaces on too so she can see the true beauty. As a salesman, the main goal is to generate the most money possible from sales. Maybe show a more expensive, but similar looking set of matching earrings and necklaces. After the customer decides to purchase, take her to the cash register.

Even though the transaction is almost over, do not stop talking. Compliment her again on the jewelry she chose. If the purchase happens to be a gift for someone else, politely ask to gift wrap. The customer will appreciate the store more if the salesman is kind and offers to perform all kinds of services. In the process, the politeness also encourages the customer to shop at the store again in the future. After ringing up the sale, kindly place the items inside a bag. Make sure she sees the jewelry handled safely and carefully. Ask other little questions, such as if she wants the receipt in the bag, anything that shows courtesy. Afterwards, walk around the counter, place the bag in her hands, smile, and thank her for shopping at the store.

Selling jewelry can be complicated if the basics are not known. But learn all the key points and the job will be a cinch. Dress adequately and look fresh so shoppers feel contented. Study all the information so no stumping questions will be asked. If customers are challenging or disrespectful, do no panic, and act professionally. Greet the customers, and ask the right questions to get to know their style. Talk frequently so there are no awkward silences and the customer will feel more comfortable. Up-sell by presenting jewelry the customer originally did not ask for, or by presenting higher priced products, to see if the customer will purchase more than she expected. And handle the transaction with care for the customer’s pleasure. Practice is needed to perfect these steps, but once they are mastered, selling jewelry may not be challenging after all.

Antique Jewelry ? Understanding the Basics of Jewelry

A love of Antique Jewelry can cost you substantial amounts of money. It is possible however to save yourself a lot of time, heartache and money if you can learn how to buy Antique, wholesale properly.

In the age of the Computer, it is usual for people to head for online auction sites, such as eBay, in the hope of finding a bargain. Unfortunately you’re only one of thousands searching for the same things. You are likely to find that the seller has just as much experience if not more and will have priced his auction at the right level.

This does not mean that bargains cannot be found at online auctions. Occasionally bargains will surface in which case keep an eye out at the more popular sites just in case. Remember to keep an eye out in several sections as well as just the antiques section. It is useful to establish the credibility of the seller before you make a bid. At times like these it is probably advisable to make sure you have access to the services of a credible escrow service. More importantly, communicate with the seller to make sure you understand exactly what you’re buying.

But don’t give up – there are other, better sources of wholesale antique jewelry. Be creative in where you look and try and find places that others haven’t discovered yet. One great resource is your local newspaper. there is a possibility that the seller might be slightly ignorant of what it is they have to sell. You may well find your self with an invaluable resource on your doorstep.

If you’re going to trawl local sales for bargains, though, don’t make it too obvious when you’re interested in a piece of jewelry. Too much interest too soon can alert the owner and you are likely to put them off. It is extremely likely that if you know your antique jewelry in your assumption may well be correct. For the sake of a few dollars, it’s better to buy the jewelry and take it away for close examination or valuation, rather than risk having the price skyrocket because of your interest.

Affiliate Marketing Basics – How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?

Affiliate marketing is a great way to start making money on the internet. It doesn’t require you to have created your own product, the start-up costs are small and beginners can start seeing results relatively quickly. The basic definition is often overcomplicated by marketers, but in simple terms it’s when a publisher agrees to pay an affiliate a percentage of the profits for any visitor they send that buys the product. In effect, an affiliate is a middle man for the publisher’s product.

The affiliate-publisher relationship is attractive to both sides which is what makes it so successful. The affiliate gets to make good money by driving traffic to a site without having to pay the cost of getting a product created. The publisher gets potentially thousands of affiliates driving huge amounts of traffic to his or her sales page.

You can find affiliate programs through many websites, but two of the most popular are Clickbank and Commission Junction. These sites act as networks of publishers looking for affiliates to help sell their products, and you can find companies in most niches on these sites. Clickbank is for digital products, while Commission Junction focuses more on tangible goods, and both sites are free to sign up.

Once you’ve chosen the product you want to promote, in most cases you will be given a unique URL through which you should send all your traffic. Many affiliate schemes have a cookie planted on the visitor once they enter through an affiliate link so that if they leave and return to buy you still get paid the commission. It should be noted at this point that in the majority of cases you should never have to pay to join an affiliate program, so be wary of any that charge.

As previously mentioned, another reason affiliate marketing is so popular amongst new marketers is that the start up cost is very small. In fact it can cost nothing apart from you time as there are plenty of free ways to drive traffic to an affiliate link.

So what are these free ways to get traffic to the affiliate page and eventually earn commissions? There are many but the most popular amongst beginner marketers is article marketing. This method is a good way to start, as most people can write short articles reasonably quickly and start seeing results within a few days. The idea is to write an article on the same topic as the product you’re promoting. Once the article has been written it’s then submitted to an article directory. At the bottom of the article the author is allowed to include a short bio which can include links to a landing page and on this landing page is an affiliate link.

A paid method of traffic generation is to use a Pay-Per-Click search engine such as Google Adwords to buy targeted visitors in your niche. This isn’t recommended for beginners as it has a steep learning curve and has the potential to lose you a lot of money, but is definitely worth considering once you start to see some sales.
